Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital in North Carolina, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to work in an LDRP setting.
Details
- Work in an 8-bed Labor & Delivery unit with 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
- Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, averaging 4–6 patients per day
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 inactive labor, 1:3–4 couplets, with 1 CST per shift
- EMR is Epic; experience preferred
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, fetal monitors, Philips newborn monitors, ultrasound, and scales
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Schedule is posted in 6-week cycles
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities) per regional needs and scope of practice — candidates unwilling to float to all listed facilities should not apply
- Low census call is possible; callback possible up to 3p for day shift workers
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting required
- Proficiency in labor management, cesarean section circulating, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include full LDRP nursing care: labor management, delivery support, postpartum care, and newborn care including resuscitation
- Department support includes a charge nurse 24/7, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, respiratory therapy within the hospital 24/7, and a hospitalist available 24/7 for newborn care
- Orientation consists of NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
- Scrubs are green and hospital-issued
- Free parking is available on-site
- Former employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being considered
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
