Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care and pediatric experience for a night shift travel position at a Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM.
Details
- Work in a Respiratory Care Services department at a 194-bed Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah
- Specialties covered include critical care, ICU, general respiratory modalities, trauma, rapid response team, and stroke team
- Patient population spans newborn to geriatric, with occasional general pediatric care responsibilities
- Equipment includes PB980, Vapotherm, Parapac, Respironics BiPAP V60, Fischer & Paykel Bubble CPAP, and Opti-Flow
- EMR: Cerner
- Night shift, 7P–7A
- Rotating weekend hours
- No call requirements
- No floating required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- RRT credential required — CRTs will not be considered
- State of New Mexico RT license required if applicable
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Critical care, ICU, and/or ED experience required
- Pediatric experience required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS

- Provide respiratory therapy services across critical care, ICU, trauma, rapid response, and stroke team settings
- Role includes participation on the Rapid Response Team and Stroke Team
- Skills checklist and area-specific competency exam required for consideration
- The facility is located in Farmington, NM, situated in the San Juan River Valley with access to outdoor recreation including hiking, kayaking, and proximity to six National Parks
- Farmington is approximately 1 hour from Durango, CO and 3 hours from Albuquerque, NM

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
