Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring phlebotomy and IV placement competency along with a valid NY RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes osteoarthritis and fractures of various joints and bones
• Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 (with stretch to 6-7); night ratio is 6-7:1 (with stretch to 8-10 as needed)
• PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
• Floating between like units is required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirement
• Charting is done in Epic (experience preferred)
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible, but is not guaranteed

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required — pending licensure is not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Experience with blood product administration and PCA management
• Peripheral line care and management skills required
• Experience with feeding tube care and management
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Tracheostomy management experience required
• Wound care and wound vac experience required
• Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement experience required
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Navy and white scrubs (any combination) are required
• RTO is limited to no more than 1 week per contract
