Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab / EP Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures for a 13-week travel contract.
Details
- Work in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab setting
- Patient population includes adults referred with a range of cardiovascular diagnoses including coronary artery disease (stable angina, unstable angina/NSTEMI, STEMI), heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease, and pre-operative evaluation
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Procedures include PCI (balloon angioplasty and stent placement), left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, PFO/ASD closures, cardiogenic shock management, and CTO interventions
- Preferred procedures include TAVI/TAVR, Impella insertion, rotablader atherectomy, ASD/cardiac implant closures, and upper/lower extremity angiography
- Major equipment includes Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Rotablader, Ultrasound, Shockwave, ACIST, and GE Mac Lab system
- Epic EMR; Pyxis for medications; SBAR for communication
- 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM–3:15 PM
- Occasional late days occur roughly 4–5 times per month, rarely extending past 5:00 PM
- On-call requirement of one day per week and every fifth weekend
- Float requirement as needed
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different pay rate
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant cath lab experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
- License required if applicable
- Proficiency in cardiac stent placement, diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, PCI, swan-ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring, and sheath removal
- Experience administering and monitoring procedural sedation, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
- Skills required include 12-lead EKG interpretation, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and infection prevention/isolation precautions
- IV therapy skills including blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and starting IVs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided
- Orientation is 16 hours; orientation is held weekly
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed before the start of the assignment and annually thereafter
- Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references must be on file at the time of start
- Candidates must be available for an interview within 72 hours of submission
- Candidates who have previously worked for this health system (permanent, PRN, or EP staff) must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are allowed; each traveler must have their own transportation and be flexible with potentially different schedules
