Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position at a Magnet, Level II Trauma, teaching hospital in Salem, OR, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting — Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma Center, and teaching facility with 569 staffed beds
- Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), recognized as a Gold Beacon Award recipient from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)
- Patient population includes acute and chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, acute and chronic kidney failure, metabolic encephalopathy, DKA, A-fib, heart failure, GI bleed, NSTEMI, unstable angina, and drug ingestion/overdose
- IMCU also serves as overflow for the CVCU, including post-ablation, post-pacer, and post-angiography patients (sheath credentialing not required)
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4; CNA support of 1:6–13 on days and 1:10–13 on nights
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Charting via Epic (required, no exceptions)
- Floating may be required within scope, including to a nearby sister hospital
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active OR RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a Med/Surg, Telemetry, or PCU setting
- Telemetry experience required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of dysrhythmias, and management of cardiac drips (e.g., nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU-level IV drips)
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required
- Skills required include IV insertion, peripheral line care/management, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, and rapid response team activation
- Conscious sedation and ventilator experience preferred
- COVID vaccination required — no exemptions
Additional Information
- Nurses care for a highly diverse patient population holistically, collaborating with multiple disciplines throughout each patient's hospital stay
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates — no radius restriction
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been away for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests exceeding 2 weeks require approval; all RTO must be established upfront and cannot be modified once submitted — additional requests may result in cancellation
- Royal blue scrubs required
