Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2-3 years of high-acuity L&D experience, with night shift availability and a strong skill set in fetal monitoring and high-risk deliveries.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting, with additional exposure to Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby care
- Patient ratio of 1:2 couplets
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per month required (Saturday and Sunday only; Friday does not count as a weekend shift)
- No on-call requirements
- Occasional floating to Postpartum unit within scope of practice
- Required skills include: sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, reflex/edema/clonus assessment, external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, blood and blood product administration, peripheral IV placement, infusion pumps/drips, amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation and recovery, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, neonatal delivery room care, newborn assessment and hypoglycemia management, epidural/general anesthesia and pain management, postpartum care (vaginal, cesarean, couplet, multiples, hemorrhage, PIH), isolation precautions/PPE, and vaccine administration
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 3 years of high-acuity L&D experience required; candidates with 2 years may be considered if experience was gained at a teaching or high-risk facility
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, C-EFM, RNC-OB
- Preferred experience: high-risk antepartum care, Level III L&D, obstetrical triage, facilities with 300+ births/month, spiral electrode placement, amniocentesis assistance, cervical cerclage, D&C, tubal ligation, neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy, PCA (IV), and newborn transition
Additional Information
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- First-time travelers will be considered with a minimum of 5 years of L&D experience
- Blackout dates with no approved time off: 5/22–5/25, 7/3–7/6, and 9/4–9/7
- An active AZ or Compact RN license must be in hand prior to consideration
