Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, cardiac drip experience, and an active Idaho or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care telemetry unit (Floor 4) in a hospital setting with 27 beds (expanding to 37)
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with CNA support at a 1:8-9 ratio
- Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, CAD, renal failure, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and post-cath lab patients
- Experience with TR bands and Fem stops is preferred; RNs will not pull sheaths
- RNs are required to read and document telemetry strips every 6 hours; currently using SpaceLabs monitors with a transition to Philips
- Set-rate cardiac drips (diltiazem and amiodarone) are common; titration is not required
- RT manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are both present and do not take patients
- Tele techs are on the floor but will be transitioning to a centralized off-site model
- EMR: Epic (active experience required)
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Weekend coverage required based on unit needs
- Holiday coverage required based on unit needs
- Travelers are first to float; may float to like units, Med/Surg, Boise Medical Center, Nampa Medical Center, or ICU (if experienced)
- No on-call or standby requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Idaho or compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- BSN required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- All certifications must be active at time of consideration; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a telemetry RN required
- Cardiac drip experience required
- NIH stroke assessment experience required
- Post-cath recovery experience required
- Chest tube experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provides telemetry nursing care to a cardiac and complex medical patient population
- Orientation consists of system onboarding followed by 2 orientation shifts
- No block scheduling; scheduling requests will not be accommodated, though peer-to-peer shift trades are permitted
- Any color scrubs are acceptable as long as they are clean, well-kept, and professional
- Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
