Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana, requiring an active IN or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Works in an adult and geriatric Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a short-term acute care hospital
- Patient population includes adults and geriatric patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (17:00–05:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital may be required
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Scrub colors required: red top and black pants
- Free parking is available on-site
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
