Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring strong cardiac and post-op experience, Cerner proficiency, and Level I or II trauma background.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital PCU, with a focus on post cardiac surgery and post vascular surgery patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity
• Requires experience with telemetry monitoring, IV starts, and titrating cardiac drips
• Uses Cerner for charting (experience required)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend required; consecutive weekends possible based on operational needs
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at both University and Methodist Hospital campuses — refusal to float may result in contract termination
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
• RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 18 months of RN experience
• Level I or Level II trauma experience required
• Strong cardiac and post-operative heart surgery experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry, IV starts, and titrating cardiac drips
• Cerner EMR experience required
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• COVID-19 vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions are accepted with appropriate documentation
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break before resetting eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, in-state residents require a 180-day break
