Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/PCU RN for a night shift ICU role requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience and frequent floating between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units.

Details

• Stepdown unit with frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units
• 21-bed unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
• Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
• Cares for vascular patients including fem-pop and CEA procedures
• Manages NSTEMI and post-cardiac catheterization with intervention patients
• Provides care for CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan
• Manages peritoneal dialysis patients
• Manages stable BiPAP patients
• Manages heated high-flow patients at less than 80%
• Manages home ventilator patients (Trilogy)
• Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments
• Hemodialysis performed in the Dialysis Department
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Every Wednesday orientation required
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience required
• ICU experience required for consideration
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line care/management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram, and pre/post cardiac cath care required
• Experience with CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal management required
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management required

Additional Information

• Must be comfortable floating frequently between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the travel position
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
• Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
