Description
American Traveler is seeking an ECMO Specialist RN for a night shift CVICU role requiring hands-on ECMO circuit management experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting caring for post-cardiac surgery and ECMO patients
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Floating to other CICU/CVICU units as needed based on census
- Care includes ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and CABG patients
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CES-A or E-AEC and LVAD certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ECMO Specialist (circuit management) experience required
- 3+ years of CVICU/ICU experience preferred
- 1+ year of recent experience in a similar unit required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- RN ECMO Specialists only; Respiratory Therapy or Perfusion ECMO Specialists not considered
- Experience with ACT, PT/PTT, fibrinogen, arterial line management, ventilator management, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and care of ventilated patients
Additional Information
- Provide nurse-driven ECMO protocol care and manage complex cardiovascular patients post-surgery
- Perform sheath removal, epicardial pacing wire care, and monitor for complications such as abdominal compartment syndrome
- Support patients on IABP, Impella, and LVAD/RVAD devices
- Orientation held every Monday with annual compliance training required
- Pre-assignment testing and training modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with reduced rate options for 90-99.9 miles
- Night shift travelers for select specialties may qualify at 50+ miles from the contracted campus
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for this role
