Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and a valid OK or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient post-surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Cares for pre- and post-operative patients with complex surgical needs, including those with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGTs, and DHTs
- Some step-down/PCU-level patients are included in the caseload
- Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down patients
- ENT and/or transplant experience is preferred
- 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours per week)
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate eNLC compact license
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
- Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience required
- Step-down or PCU experience required
- OR (operating room) candidates will not be considered
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include post-operative patient assessment, medication administration, IV and blood product management, wound and drain care, and patient/family education
- Delegates tasks to support staff and collaborates with the care team to coordinate patient needs
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after 26 total weeks before being eligible for a new contract
- Compliance requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must be initiated immediately upon accepting an offer; compliance deadlines are strictly enforced and non-compliance may result in cancellation
