American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Telemetry travel contract working night shifts at an acute care hospital in Nampa, ID, with floating requirements and a 50-mile radius rule.

Details

  • Acute care hospital telemetry unit (Floor 1) with 24 beds
  • Patient population includes heart failure, COPD, sepsis, A-fib, pneumonia, stroke, detox, and suicidal holds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, supported by CNAs at a 1:8 ratio
  • Telemetry monitoring via SpaceLabs; RNs are required to sign off on their own strips
  • Respiratory therapy equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Set-rate drips administered on the unit include Diltiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and Lidocaine — drip titration is not required
  • EMR: Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
  • Weekends required on a rotation basis, with travelers expected to help fill scheduling gaps as needed
  • Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
  • No on-call or standby requirements
  • Floating is required to MedSurg within the same facility, and may also include float to Telemetry units in Meridian or Boise
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active ID RN license or compact RN license (must be active, pending licenses not accepted)
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Driver's license required
  • 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — permanent address will be verified

Additional Information

  • Unit operates on a team nursing model; when fully staffed, 2 of 7 floor RNs serve as leads with a reduced patient load of 1–2 patients to assist colleagues with med passes and patient care — experienced travelers are eligible to work as leads
  • A dedicated charge nurse is present on each shift and does not take a patient assignment; an administrative supervisor is on-site 24/7
  • Unit-specific orientation is 1–2 days
  • No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
  • Former permanent employees of the facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Any color scrubs are acceptable as long as they are clean and professional

Pros

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything. That level of support has really stood out to me. I’m rly happy I chose American Traveler for my first assignment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
