Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Hospice/Home Health position in Ellsworth/Bangor, ME, requiring a ME or Compact RN license and prior hospice experience.
Details
- Home health and hospice setting — travel between patient homes throughout the Ellsworth/Bangor territory
- Hospice patient population with common diagnoses including post-orthopedic surgery, wound care, chronic/acute CHF and COPD, post-cardiac surgery, genitourinary conditions, IV antibiotic teaching, central line care, med pre-fills, and lab draws
- Average caseload of 25–30 patients as a Case Manager; office census averages 150 patients
- Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8AM–5PM (five 8-hour days); a four 10-hour day schedule may be considered depending on experience
- Weekend rotation required, typically once a month but may be more frequent depending on staffing
- Overnight on-call rotation (5PM–8AM) required, typically once every 3–4 weeks
- Floating to other agency locations may be required if the Ellsworth territory census is low
- EMR: Netsmart
- IV pumps provided through vendor
Requirements
- Active RN license for the State of Maine (ME) or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification
- Valid driver's license required; must have access to own vehicle for patient-to-patient home visits
- Minimum 1 year of hospice or home health experience required
- Clinical skill set to manage hospice diagnoses including wound care, CHF, COPD, IV therapy, and central line care
- No prior permanent employment with any Northern Light Health Hospital
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St., Bangor, ME 04401); candidates residing 100+ miles north are considered on a case-by-case basis
- Two professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, or director (charge nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
- Full SSN required for consideration
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Copies of all certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are considered only if they have prior home health and hospice experience
- Orientation is approximately 1 week
- Holiday coverage is required when the assignment aligns with major holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Flu vaccination is required for clearance to start; medical exemptions only are accepted and must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance for committee review
- Supported by a scheduling team, clinical manager, and lead support team
- Business casual attire or scrubs are acceptable; no specific color requirement
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration and requires manager approval
