Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced travel RN for an Operating Room position requiring a minimum of 4 years of OR experience, including Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics.

- Hospital OR setting serving a broad range of surgical service lines including Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
- Transplant cases include intestinal, kidney, liver, organ donation, and pancreas
- Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (10:30–21:00)
- Weekend assignment is variable and will be discussed during the interview
- On-call requirements are variable and will be discussed during the interview
- Floating within facility and scope of practice, including to Outpatient as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
- 16-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of 4 years of OR experience prior to travel — this is a strict requirement
- Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Experience in all of the following specialties is required: Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
- GYN skills must include abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, bilateral tubal ligation, D&C, and laparoscopic-assisted gynecological procedures
- Neuro skills must include craniotomy, ALIF, XLIF, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion
- General surgery skills must include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, thyroidectomy, and Whipple
- Orthopedic skills must include arthroscopy, total joint replacement, open/closed reduction of fractures, and laminectomy/discectomy
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above) are highly preferred — charge nurse references are not accepted
Additional Information
- Candidates undergo a clinical review process to assess fit; those who pass are forwarded to the hiring manager for final consideration
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- No special scheduling requests are permitted post-offer or onsite; the listed shift is firm
- Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
- All RTO must be finalized prior to consideration; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Maximum RTO is 7 days per contract
- Holiday RTO policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, no holiday RTO will be approved; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, 1 holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Blackout dates with no RTO approved: 11/23–11/29 and 12/21–1/3
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent, per diem, or in another capacity must have been away from all system facilities for at least 1 full year before being eligible as a traveler
- Travelers who previously canceled or received a facility Do Not Return must complete one full assignment outside of this health system before reapplying
