Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology Infusion RN for a night shift, inpatient travel assignment at an acute care teaching hospital in Minnesota, requiring Epic/Excellian proficiency and a valid MN RN license.
Details
- Inpatient Oncology Infusion unit within an acute care, Level 3 trauma, Magnet teaching hospital (317 staffed beds)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Required to work every 3rd weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
- Charting system: Epic (Excellian) — experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted at time of offer)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology infusion RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required; ONS/ONCC (Chemo) certification preferred
- Epic/Excellian EMR experience required
- Proficiency with IV therapy and infusions, including port access and management, central line care, PICC line care, and infusion pump management
- Experience with chemotherapy administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral, and body fluid handling post-chemo) required
- Skilled in managing oncologic emergencies including anaphylaxis, acute tumor lysis syndrome, extravasation injury, and hemorrhage
- Experience with blood and blood product administration, coagulation factors, and intravenous hydration
- Competency in symptom management (nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, altered mental status, edema, dysphagia, and more)
- Ability to administer medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, corticosteroids, and antitumor agents
- Wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, neutropenic precautions, and foley catheter management skills required
- Psychosocial care skills including patient/family education and support, and advanced directives
- Pain management experience including IV push narcotic agents and PCA pump management
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- Must not have previously worked at this health system (Allina) as a permanent staff or per diem employee within the past 3 months
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests are ideally limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the contract
- Pre-employment online modules are required to be completed prior to start; completion is recorded via transcripts
- Fingerprinting is required as a Minnesota state mandate; results can take 1 day to 3–4 weeks, and candidates will not be cleared to start without results on file — candidates not near a LiveScan location must travel to one
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent (staff or per diem) employees at this health system must have been separated for at least 3 months from their last shift before being eligible
- This health system does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or for those who previously worked as permanent employees
