Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with Impella and CRRT experience for a travel contract in the Greater New Orleans area, requiring Epic proficiency and an active LA or Compact RN license.

Details

• ICU setting within a hospital environment
• Patient ratio is typically 1:2, with occasional flex to 1:3
• 4x12-hour day shifts (7:00–19:30)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to all ICUs; may also float to ED or PACU to care for ICU-level patients, or occasionally to MS/PCU units at a 1:4 ratio
• Epic EMR required
• Nurses are responsible for all lab draws, EKGs, and line starts
• Equipment used includes: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA Pumps, Servo I Ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis Machines, Edwards Lifesciences Cardiac Monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill-Rom Beds, Pyxis Medication Stations, and Veratron Bladder Scanners

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending not accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• CPI certification required (can be obtained at the facility for $100)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• Impella experience required
• CRRT/CVVHD experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with ventilator management, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, and blood product administration
• At least two recent manager references required
• Copy of Driver's License required for consideration
• Any license history disclosures must be accompanied by a personal statement

Additional Information

• Complex ICU patient population including neurological, cardiac, renal, and multisystem organ failure cases; preferred experience includes ECMO, post-cardiac surgery, EVD management, and hypothermia/Arctic Sun protocol
• Candidates must be able to care for isolation patients, including COVID-19; knowledge of your N95 mask size is required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience are preferred
• Pre-start modules are required and vary by specialty (typically 5–8 hours for RNs); modules are non-billable
• RTO is limited to 5 days total for the duration of the contract
• Local candidates (residing within 75 miles of the facility) are accepted at a local pay rate
• Former permanent employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
