Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of combined adult and pediatric ED experience, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

  • Hospital-based Emergency Department setting with a mixed adult and pediatric 24-bed care area
  • Pediatric patients are seen in all zones — there is no separate pediatric area
  • Common patient diagnoses include STEMI, stroke, sepsis, sprains, sutures, and high-acuity presentations
  • RNs manage ventilators and high-flow oxygen, as respiratory therapy is not available on the unit
  • Drips include routine vasopressors, insulin, and sedation
  • Typical patient ratio is 4:1, with occasional stretch to 5:1 during peak census
  • 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with shift windows of 11a–11p or 1p–1a
  • Weekend requirement: 6 shifts in 6 weeks
  • No on-call or holiday requirements
  • EMR: Epic (ASAP module)

Requirements

  • Active VA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Must have experience with both adult and pediatric emergency patients

Additional Information

  • Training is provided for vent management given the absence of respiratory therapy on the unit
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • 13-week contract
