Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Colorado, requiring ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications with night shift and every-other-weekend availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital Emergency Department (ED/ER) setting
- Level 3 Trauma Center with The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Orthopedic Trauma and Emergency Stroke Ready designation
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN
- Patient volume averages approximately 150 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5 based on acuity
- ER holds are mixed within the ED; no separate psych/seclusion rooms
- Charting system is Epic
- RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry independently — no monitor techs on unit
- RNs will be trained to perform Point-of-Care lab testing
- RT is available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
- Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and help with triage
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Floating is required throughout the assigned zone's ERs within a 60-mile radius
- No on-call or standby requirement
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications (all AHA, all must be active — no pending certifications accepted): ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- BSN is not required
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (driver's license used to confirm permanent address)
Additional Information
- Unit orientation is 2–3 days; clinicians must be on-site in Colorado for the week of orientation even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Charge nurses carry an assignment on this unit
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Floating is required throughout the full 60-mile zone — travelers are responsible for securing housing that makes this feasible regardless of where they choose to stay
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility in the CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health system within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
