Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position covering Zone 3 in the Denver, CO area, requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and the flexibility to float across multiple facilities within a 60-mile radius.

- Acute care, hospital-based MS/Tele Float Pool position with no single home base facility
- Float zone covers multiple facilities within a 60-mile radius of Denver city center, including locations in Lakewood, Longmont, and Westminster, CO
- Float pool encompasses a wide range of specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs units
- Patient population is adult through geriatric with diagnoses spanning cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 based on acuity
- May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low-acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS/Tele
- Titratable drips include Heparin
- RT equipment in use including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
- EMR: Epic
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- Schedules are released 4–6 weeks in advance; two scheduling formats are used: set weekly facility assignment (Option A) or just-in-time (JIT) facility assignment 1–2 hours before shift start (Option B)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- BSN not required
- Candidate must permanently reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center (the zone's geographic center) to qualify for travel rates; a valid driver's license is used to verify permanent address
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of a valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Travelers are responsible for securing housing that allows them to float throughout the full 60-mile zone, regardless of where they choose to live during the assignment
- Schedules are managed by leadership; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
- All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
- Holiday rotation coverage may be required
- On-call or standby is rare and typically tied to low census
- Designated charge nurses are on each unit and do not routinely take patient assignments; night shift charge nurses may occasionally carry a small patient load
- CNAs are available on the unit
- Unit-specific orientation is 1–2 days with a preceptor; clinicians must be on-site in Colorado for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Interview process is conducted by the MedSol Clinical Team; no unit manager involvement
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Scrubs: any color accepted
