Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for an Outpatient/Ambulatory Surgery position in Bethpage, NY, requiring a valid NY RN license and urology procedure experience on a weekday-only schedule.

Details

• Ambulatory Operating Room setting with one OR suite
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Average daily census of 14 patients with approximately 14 cases per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Monday–Friday schedule, no weekends and no rotating shifts
• Day shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (5 x 7.5-hour shifts, 37.5 hours per week)
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
• 13-week contract with the potential to extend

Requirements

• Active NY State RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
• Ambulatory OR nursing experience required
• First Assist experience required
• Urology procedure experience required, including circumcisions, cystoscopies, vasectomies, and scrubbing for urology surgeries
• Clinical skills required: cardiac monitoring, infection prevention and control, radiation safety, specimen collection/handling/labeling, peripheral IV insertion, Universal Protocol (Time Out), urinary bladder catheterization, and wound management
• COVID vaccination required — no exceptions

• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees must have been gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• RTO of 5 days or fewer per contract; no RTO permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Parking is available in an assigned employee garage at no cost; street parking also available
• SBAR is the standard communication method used on this unit
• Grey scrubs required
