Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for an Outpatient/Ambulatory Surgery position in Bethpage, NY, requiring a valid NY RN license and urology procedure experience on a weekday-only schedule.
Details
- Ambulatory Operating Room setting with one OR suite
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Average daily census of 14 patients with approximately 14 cases per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Monday–Friday schedule, no weekends and no rotating shifts
- Day shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (5 x 7.5-hour shifts, 37.5 hours per week)
- Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
- 13-week contract with the potential to extend
Requirements
- Active NY State RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Ambulatory OR nursing experience required
- First Assist experience required
- Urology procedure experience required, including circumcisions, cystoscopies, vasectomies, and scrubbing for urology surgeries
- Clinical skills required: cardiac monitoring, infection prevention and control, radiation safety, specimen collection/handling/labeling, peripheral IV insertion, Universal Protocol (Time Out), urinary bladder catheterization, and wound management
- COVID vaccination required — no exceptions
Additional Information
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees must have been gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- RTO of 5 days or fewer per contract; no RTO permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Parking is available in an assigned employee garage at no cost; street parking also available
- SBAR is the standard communication method used on this unit
- Grey scrubs required
