- Unit is a 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology floor (Tower 6), with approximately 85% oncology patients and 15% general telemetry/med-surg patients
- Patient population includes surgical, medical, and oncology patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Telemetry monitoring via Philips; RNs are required to interpret EKGs independently

- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
- Holiday coverage is rotation-based
- Floating required to other Med/Surg and Telemetry units
- Support staff includes 2 PCTs on days and nights, a charge RN with light patient assignment, a SWAT RN available for difficult IV access, and RT and pharmacy available 24/7
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Chemo certification is a plus
- Proficiency in telemetry/EKG interpretation required
- Competency in sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is essential
- Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer confirmation; two attempts allowed
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
Additional Information
- Orientation includes 2 days of floor-specific training plus a SIMs Lab component covering sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — SIMs Lab is pass/fail, and breaching sterile field may result in immediate termination
- A pass/fail exam on sterile technique is administered on Day 1 of orientation
- Additional orientation topics include lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only, not pass/fail)
- Navy scrubs are required
- Candidates must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Pros
I’ve had a great experience working with my recruiter at American Traveler. She is incredibly prompt and clear with her communication, and she’s always taken the time to walk me through any questions or concerns I had. She explains everything with confidence and professionalism, which has made the entire process much less stressful. Her responsiveness and ability to provide clear answers have given me confidence that she’ll continue to advocate for me and deliver throughout my assignment. I truly appreciate her support and would recommend working with her. In addition, the credentialing specialist has been helpful and communicative in setting up any medical screening with minimal stress.
Cons
While the customer service is great, the agency itself doesn’t support onboarding orientation or medical screening financially. So I would advise to set aside some money to cover those bills until your contract starts.
