Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level 4 Trauma Center in Hartford, WI, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN ED experience and certifications including ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.
Details
- Emergency Department of a 35-inpatient bed, Level 4 Trauma Center and Acute Stroke Ready Center with Magnet Designation
- ED has 10 beds with approximately 700 visits per month; operates as a step above a critical access hospital
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics with general ED cases; patients under 16 are transferred out for admissions
- Acute STEMIs, acute CVA admissions, and cardiac arrests requiring intervention are transferred out; no cath lab on site
- Patient ratio is 1:2–6; 2 RNs are present on the unit at all times
- 12-hour evening shifts with a combination of 11:00–23:30 and 19:00–07:30 scheduling
- Weekend rotation is every fourth Saturday and Sunday (11:00–23:30)
- Standard hours are 48 per week
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Epic; Pyxis, Alaris pumps, and GE monitors used on unit
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of RN ED-specific experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Completion of an accredited nursing program required
- Proficiency with triage, trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric patient care
- Strong IV skills, NGT placement, EKG interpretation, assist with intubations, RIS drug administration, and chest tube management required
- Splinting experience is recommended but not required
- 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers; no radius rule applies
- Unit support includes CNAs, phlebotomy 24/7 (shared responsibility), RT 24/7, a 24/7 Hospitalist and ED physician, and a PA or NP for 12 hours per day
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment; house supervisor on night shift will assist in the ED based on census
- Telemetry monitoring is available at the nurses' station; no tele tech on unit
- Orientation includes online modules and Epic training on site during the first week, followed by 1 shift on the unit to learn workflow
- At least one holiday must be covered during the contract period; Labor Day is specifically required
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
- Professional scrubs in any solid color are required; no patterns
