Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced adult Med/Surg Trauma unit, requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of recent experience and Level I or comparable Level II Trauma center background.
Details
- 36-bed adult surgical unit caring primarily for trauma and acute care surgical patients
- Common diagnoses include spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
- Unit includes 2 negative pressure rooms serving the COVID patient population
- Day/night rotating schedule
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights
- LNA-to-patient ratio: 1:12
Requirements
- Active NH RN license or Compact RN license required (proof of state residency required for Compact license holders)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 1.5 years of recent, equivalent Med/Surg Trauma experience required
- Level I Trauma center experience preferred; several years at a Level II Trauma center is acceptable
- Trauma experience must be within the last 2 years
- Required clinical skills: chest tubes, tracheostomies/laryngectomies, telemetry monitoring, complex wound care, central line care and maintenance including blood draws, and management of lines/tubes/drains for post-surgical patients
- Experience with vasoactive and high-alert drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone required
- Two professional references from managers required for consideration

- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Unit prioritizes patient rehabilitation and support in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
