Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Telemetry position in Michigan, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and availability to work every other weekend on night shifts.

Details

• Mixed unit setting covering PCU, Med-Surg/Telemetry, and Med-Surg in an acute care hospital environment
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as COVID, stroke, NSTEMI, chest pain, AKI, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, CHF exacerbation, cellulitis, and AMS
• Staffing ratio is 1:6 on all shifts; unit operates on a Pilot Team Nursing Model (RN paired with LPN for 7 patients)
• Unit has 25 beds with an average daily census of 19
• Floating required within the acute care service line, including 2 South, 3 North, Hickman, ICU (for intermediate care patients), ER, and Behavioral Health as needed; assignments will be appropriate to experience and scope of practice
• Special equipment includes safe patient handling equipment; medication system is Pyxis
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Every other weekend is required, with weekends defined as Saturday and Sunday for both night and day shifts (12 weekend shifts per contract)

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• Must demonstrate a teamwork-oriented approach and adhere to facility attendance and call-off policies

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across a mixed PCU, Med-Surg/Telemetry, and Med-Surg environment
• Navy scrubs required
• First-time travelers are considered if they have more than 3 years of experience
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration, along with a full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
