Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Ambulatory OR position requiring at least 1 year of experience across a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, robotics, and surgical oncology.
Details
- Ambulatory outpatient OR setting with 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room
- Pre/post unit consists of 20 bays staffed by 10 RNs and 1 PCT
- Surgical specialties include Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints — general surgery, L&D, and pediatrics are not performed on this unit
- Pre/post RN responsibilities include patient prep, medication reconciliation, IV placement, EKG acquisition, and post-anesthesia recovery through discharge
- Works closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses in a fast-paced environment
- Schedule is 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM with day off based on department needs (special requests considered when possible)
- Late shifts scheduled a few times per month
- No on-call requirement
- Floating within the perioperative facility is a possibility
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact RN license; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
- AHA BLS certification required (AHA-issued certifications only)
- Radiation badge required — must be provided by your staffing agency
- Minimum 1 year of OR RN experience required
- Experience across a broad range of surgical specialties aligned with the unit's caseload is required (see job details)
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Pre-employment online modules must be completed prior to the start date (approximately 4 hours)
- Candidates who were previously employed (including PRN) at any MUSC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted; non-local candidates are given priority consideration
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is based on facility needs, and multiple RTO requests within an 8–13 week contract may be denied
