Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical Med/Surg unit in Urbana, IL, requiring at least 1 year of nursing experience, Level 1 Trauma experience, and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Position is located on a surgical Med/Surg unit (T7) within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes complex surgical cases, including post-operative care, tracheostomies, wound vac management, and new ostomies
  • Collaborates with general surgical and oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) residency services
  • Schedule is three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
  • Holiday shifts are on a rotation basis
  • May be required to float to like units
  • Epic EMR is used; experience is required
  • Candidates are interviewed by a Carle Health leader prior to selection

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in good standing required; temporary license accepted
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • ASN required; BSN preferred
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include completing initial patient assessments, developing and modifying individualized care plans, and performing nursing interventions throughout the post-operative phase
  • Additional duties include monitoring and caring for new tracheostomies, managing wound vacs and complex wounds, and educating patients and families on new ostomies
  • Accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care is required to support the healthcare team
  • RTO is not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Candidates who have been on continuous assignment with Carle Health for 1 year must take a 6-month break in service before returning to any Carle Health location

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
