Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 1+ year of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit (5C) in a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
• Unit has 10 beds with an average daily census of 8 patients
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
• Patient population includes DM, respiratory and GI illnesses, neuro and trauma cases, spinal precautions, pre-CT surgery (CABG), and clean cath lab patients requiring TR band management
• Manages drips including Cardizem, Nitro, and Amio
• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to Rehab, 4 Ardmore, 10 Reynolds, 9 Reynolds, 5 Ardmore, Burn-10 North, and 4A MedSurg Overflow
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• No bedside monitors; RN reads and interprets telemetry strips from bedside monitors
• CNA, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support available

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, PCA pumps, surgical drains, wound care, and TR bands required
• Comfort managing external fixators, chest tubes, trachs, and complex wound care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care within a busy Med/Surg Tele unit at a large academic medical center with a friendly, collaborative culture
• Travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers may be considered
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent position
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Royal blue scrubs required
