Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) travel assignment requiring telemetry, vent, and transplant experience at a Magnet-designated Academic Level I/II Trauma Center in Madison, WI.
Details
- Rotation between two IMC units: D6/5 (Acute Medical/Progressive Care) and B4/3 (Thoracic IMC)
- Patient population includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown cases
- Vent-dependent and post-transplant patients are part of the caseload
- Day/Evening shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00am–7:30pm)
- Schedule is Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units required as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
- Charting system: Epic (required)
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA required
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Experience in an Academic Level I or II Trauma Center or similarly sized hospital required
- Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Post-transplant care experience required
- Prior travel experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Required skills include IV therapy, central line care/management, blood product administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias
- Preferred skills include arterial line management, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and HFNC
Additional Information
- This position is at a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized as a leading national academic teaching and referral center
- A telemetry exam must be passed prior to the start of the assignment
- The adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart block questions, and a passing score of 80% or higher
- The pediatric telemetry exam covers V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with a passing score of 80% or higher
- Travelers are allowed up to two attempts to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate of completion
- Failure to pass after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation
- Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; alternative transportation options include bus, park & ride, and private parking
