Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring active MO or compact licensure and a minimum of 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience.

Details

• Float position covering multiple Med/Surg and Telemetry units, including ED holding for inpatient holds
• Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, renal, orthopedic, and post-surgical cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Required skills include cardiac telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response teams
• Cardiovascular procedures: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery
• Respiratory skills: BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), HFNC, tracheostomy management
• IV therapy skills: blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, starting IVs
• Medication management: Heparin protocols, cardiac drip management and titration, PCA, procedural sedation, IV insulin protocols
• Additional skills: CVA care, feeding tube management, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement, and surgical drains
• Preferred skills: port access/management, chemotherapy monitoring
• Epic EMR (experience preferred)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 8 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — MO or compact license (both Kansas and Missouri licenses, or a compact license, must be in hand at time of consideration due to floating requirements across state lines)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Previous charge RN experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• SSN required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN — all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• RTO requests must be finalized at time of consideration (maximum 7 days)

• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
• Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
• Holiday shift coverage and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• Block scheduling is not available
• Pre-compliance modules are required prior to the start date (approximately 10–15 hours total), including Epic training and infusion pump/glucometer training
• Candidates who previously worked at any BJC or Saint Lukes facility as a permanent employee must wait 1 year before being eligible as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have an 18-month gap from their last assignment at this health system, with at least a 3-month break in service
• Contractors are expected to fulfill their full contract term — mid-contract cancellations to accept another assignment within the same system are not permitted; if a contract is canceled at the contractor's discretion, an assignment elsewhere must be completed before re-applying
