Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift travel contract in South Florida, requiring Level 1 trauma experience and an active FL or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work setting is a hospital-based Emergency Department of 30 beds or larger
  • Patient population includes Level 1 trauma patients, including those requiring care in the Trauma Bay
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 4:1 or 5:1 depending on area assignment
  • Schedule is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • EMR: Epic experience required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active FL or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
  • TNCC and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience in a 30-bed or larger emergency department, preferably at a Level 1 trauma center
  • Must be able to function independently caring for Level 1 trauma patients in the Trauma Bay
  • Degree must be from an accredited or FBON-approved institution; candidates from Operation Nightingale schools are not eligible
  • 2 years of recent, consecutive acute care experience within the past 24 months in a US hospital
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia/EKG assessment (pass/fail)
  • Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening required, including fingerprint-based criminal history checks and abuse registry review
  • All certifications must be current at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population including Level 1 trauma cases
  • Candidates must complete pre-start online orientation modules (8 hours for RN) prior to first shift, recorded via self-submitted certificates of completion
  • If the initial arrhythmia assessment is not passed with 100% on lethal rhythms, a retake (Dysrhythmia Exam B) must be completed within 24 hours and passed with an overall Angoff score of 83% or higher, 100% in the lethal rhythm section, and 83% in all other sections
  • Study guides and tips for the arrhythmia assessment are available through the facility's online orientation resources
  • Smoke-free facility
  • Proof of vaccination status required; declinations are not accepted
  • Local candidates within a 60-mile radius of the facility are considered at a lower rate
  • Former permanent employees of Broward Health must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
