Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of one prior travel contract, Epic proficiency, and strong ortho/neuro skills.

- Float pool assignment covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Patient population includes Ortho, Neuro/Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry — experience with all three areas is required
- Shifts may be split across two units within a single 12-hour shift (e.g., 8 hours on one unit, 4 hours on another), requiring strong time management skills
- High volume of peripheral nerve catheters on orthopedic floors
- Patient ratio is 1:4–5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required; travelers are asked to be flexible
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the hospital is required to meet facility needs
- Charting is done in Epic (required)
- Work settings include MS/Tele, Orthopedics, Ortho Trauma, Total Joint Replacement, Cardiovascular, Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, and Endocrine/Metabolic
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact license; pending WA license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma setting
- At least one prior travel contract completed; first-time travelers are not eligible
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and a pass/fail fill-in-the-blank telemetry/EKG competency exam (administered at orientation)
- BSN preferred
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias (hard stop requirement)
- Proficiency in titration of insulin drips (hard stop requirement)
- Strong orthopedic and neurological nursing skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
- Two supervisory references required for consideration (one may be non-supervisory on a case-by-case basis)
Additional Information
- 26-week contract
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and emergency response, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery, neurological/psychiatric care, and endocrine/metabolic management including insulin drip titration
- Candidates must complete 6–8 hours of non-billable pre-start modules; WA suicide prevention training (an additional ~6 hours) may be required for those working with the MSL population
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable; light blue scrubs are also provided on unit
- RTO is not permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; RTO should be kept to a minimum throughout the contract
- Christmas RTO is not permitted; travelers must work 2 of 3 major holidays (eve or day)
- Prior UW Health System staff must have an 18-month separation from the facility before being eligible to return as a traveler

- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- The facility is a 500-bed Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with Level I Trauma designation
- Manager prefers candidates not submitted as travel pairs
