Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg night shift position at an acute care facility in McCall, ID, requiring at least 1 year of experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Details
- Work in a 13-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes post-orthopedic surgery, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, general surgical (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomy), A-fib with RVR, MI/chest pain rule-outs, and pediatric respiratory cases (RSV/pneumonia)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 without a CNA or 1:3 with CNA support
- One CNA per shift assists with vitals, ADLs, Foley removal, and sterile procedure setup
- Telemetry monitoring via tele box with virtual monitor tech support; RN must be able to read basic telemetry
- Respiratory equipment includes nasal cannula, high-flow oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP
- RNs are required to titrate drips including insulin, Cardizem, and Heparin
- Charge nurse serves as house-wide resource supervisor, covering both Med/Surg and L&D
- EMR: Epic
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, three shifts per week with self-scheduling (gaps-first scheduling priority)
- Every other to every third weekend required
- Occasional holiday coverage required
- 2 on-call/standby shifts required per contract
- Float to the ER for tasking on a rare basis; primarily unit-based
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or Compact RN license required (must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (copies of active certifications required; pending certifications not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Basic telemetry reading ability required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Unit orientation consists of 1–2 shifts
- Professional scrubs in any color are acceptable
- BSN is not required for this position
