Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1-2 years of acute care experience.
Details
- Works in a Med/Surg unit within a large short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient population includes those with diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and non-active oncology cases; surgical patients are not cared for on this unit
- Patient ratio is 1:6
- Telemetry and Med/Surg-Tele experience is preferred
- Schedule is 4x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), with the option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend is required
- No on-call requirements
- Travelers are required to float within their service line to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is done in Epic; experience is required
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or a compact RN license (must match permanent residence state) required; pending MO license may be accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of RN experience required; Level I or teaching facility experience may be considered in lieu of 2 full years
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to starting; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is required
- Required clinical skills include: peripheral IV placement and management, blood product administration, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and non-invasive airway management
- Preferred skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), PICC line management, central line blood draws, PCA management, wound care/wound vac, phlebotomy, and telemetry monitoring
- Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing; no exceptions
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent employees at any BJC or Saint Luke's facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment, and any holiday RTO requires manager approval
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed through WorkRamp; modules should be started within one week of signing and completed two Fridays prior to the start date
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Monthly parking passes are available at several nearby lots and garages; costs vary by location and shift (night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge)
