Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, with specialized ENT and Plastic Surgery patient care experience required.
Details
- Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- ENT and Plastic Surgery unit caring for patients with cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blowout precautions, and free flap patients
- Specialized procedures include drain care, free flap monitoring, tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, central line management, and wound care
- Telemetry monitoring required
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Valid MO RN license or Compact license required; must be in hand at time of consideration (pending IL license may be considered — please note at time of application)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; candidates with 1+ year of experience at a Level I or Teaching Facility may be considered
- Experience with telemetry monitoring required
- Experience with tracheostomy/laryngectomy care, free flap monitoring, drain care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, and central line management required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travel RNs may work a maximum of 18 consecutive months before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers may park at no charge in employee parking
