Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring TX or compact RN license and travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a 36-private-room Telemetry unit (5 North) within a hospital setting
• Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients
• Priority admissions include patients requiring medical cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
• Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS also required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, heparin protocols, wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, sheath removal, and pre/post hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac telemetry patients including monitoring for dysrhythmias and responding to emergencies
• Support patients recovering from cardiac procedures such as angiograms, MI, and cardiac surgery
• Not accepting candidates who reside in the following counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
