Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med Surg position requiring at least 3 years of experience, stepdown skills, and drip titration ability for a 13-week night shift contract in West Virginia.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 20-bed Stepdown/Med Surg unit
• Common patient diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
• Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3; floor ratio is 1:5-6
• Two nurse aides are available per shift
• Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely at Ruby
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
• RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen is available on the unit
• Charting is done in Epic
• 12-hour night shifts
• Three weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period
• Rotating holiday coverage required (evening or day)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation is provided
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to apply
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year cumulatively before taking a 2-year break
