Details

- Patient volume ranges from 40–168 patients per day depending on location
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5 based on acuity
- Facilities in the zone are primarily STEMI and stroke receiving, with Trauma Level 3 designation at non-designated sites
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN
- ER holds are intermixed within the ER; no separate psych/seclusion rooms
- RNs must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips (no monitor techs)
- RT is available 24/7
- Charting is done in Epic
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Schedules are released 4–6 weeks in advance; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill scheduling gaps
- Scheduling follows one of two formats: assigned to a single facility for the week (with possible intra-facility floating), or Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling where the facility assignment is communicated 1–2 hours before shift start
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ED/ER experience required
- Required certifications (all must be active, AHA-issued): ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS — pending certifications are not accepted
- Ability to float throughout the full 60-mile Zone 3 region; housing must be secured to make this feasible
- Permanent residence must be at least 60 miles from the Denver city center (the zone's city center) to qualify for travel pay rates — driver's license is used to verify permanent address
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required
Additional Information
- Travelers will be trained on and expected to perform Point of Care lab testing
- Support staff includes unit techs who assist with secretary work, nursing floor support, and triage
- Unit/department-specific orientation is 2–3 days; clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Navy blue scrubs required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Interview process is conducted by the MedSol Clinical Team — no unit manager involvement

Pros
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything. That level of support has really stood out to me. I’m rly happy I chose American Traveler for my first assignment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
