Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a STEMI-certified facility, requiring 2 years of ED experience and active GA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
- Common diagnoses include HTN, diabetes, CHF, ESRD, CAD, abdominal pain, STEMI/NSTEMI, pulmonary embolism, COPD, and behavioral health conditions
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the facility per scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR required
- 12-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS; EBRR and GSCC can be completed onsite
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care/management, emergency medications, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, triage, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, psychiatric patients, and managing violent behavior
- Copies of all certifications listed in the position description required for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, Level I and Level II trauma center experience preferred
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- All RTO must be finalized prior to offer; no RTO or schedule requests will be accepted after offer or upon arrival onsite
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Blackout dates apply: 4/5/2026–4/11/2026
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2, and 1 holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No alternate shift or schedule requests are permitted; the listed shift is firm
- Previous permanent, per diem, or float pool employees of this health system must have been away from all system facilities for a minimum of 1 full year before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Travelers who previously canceled or received a do-not-return status at this health system must complete one successful assignment outside the system before reapplying
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements is required to start on time; incomplete compliance may result in a 2-week start date delay due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
