Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and MN RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a critical access hospital with a Level 4 trauma designation
  • Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month in an LDRP setting
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 7p-7a
  • Patient ratios average 1:2-3 on nights and weekends, with an average daily census of 1-2
  • Care includes triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
  • Every other weekend required, with flexibility to every third weekend considered
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • May float outside the OB unit to support mental health patient monitoring or assist with vitals, toileting, and repositioning on the medical/surgical unit without taking a full patient assignment
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) EMR

Requirements

  • Active or pending MN RN license accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Current BLS and NRP certification required
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Skilled in fetal heart monitoring (FHM) and IV starts
  • Must be able to manage all aspects of labor and delivery care, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Minnesota state-required fingerprinting (LiveScan) must be completed, which may require travel to an approved location

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across all phases of the labor and delivery process
  • May assist with high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Supports newborn care including assessments, cord care, and parent discharge teaching
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
  • Returning staff must have been separated from perm or per diem employment for at least 3 months prior to starting
  • RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
  • Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or for former perm employees
  • Floating may occur within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
