Description

American Traveler is hiring a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with 1-2+ years experience and ARRT (N) and NMTCB certification for a day shift hospital assignment.

Details

  • Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine department serving adult and geriatric patients
  • High scan load including outpatient and inpatient nuclear stress tests, HIDA scans, VQ scans, biliary studies, lymph injections, and amyloid studies
  • Utilizes GE equipment including SPECT CT (850)
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Weekday on-call coverage required twice per week (4:00 PM-10:00 PM)
  • Weekend on-call coverage required every other weekend (either Saturday or Sunday, not both)
  • Required to float within specialty, other units, and sister facilities within scope
  • Required to work holidays as scheduled

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience required
  • ARRT (N) and ARRT (R) certification required
  • NMTCB certification required
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
  • State license required if applicable
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Strong independent skills required across nuclear medicine procedures including bone scans, myocardial studies, thyroid studies, and renal scans
  • Experience with pharmacological stress testing, adenosine and persantine infusion preferred
  • Experience with venous blood draws and IV starts required
  • Knowledge of radioactive materials storage, handling, and disposal required
  • Must be comfortable working independently with minimal orientation

Additional Information

  • Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures including SPECT imaging, bone/brain/liver/renal scans, thyroid studies, and cancer surveys
  • Conduct nuclear cardiology procedures including myocardial perfusion studies and stress testing
  • Perform HIDA scans, gastric emptying studies, and MUGA scans
  • Black scrubs required
  • First-time travelers will be considered with strong relevant experience
  • Standard RTO policy applies with maximum 7 days per request

The charge nurses and patient population is friendly.

Cons

They will short staff you every day. I got attitude multiple times when trying to take lunch 9 hours into my shift because ‘we don’t really do that here.’ Incredibly frustrating staffing levels, especially on the oncology floor.
