Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with PICU or NICU experience for a night shift pediatric critical care position at a children's hospital in Oregon.

Details

• Work in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at a large academic children's hospital in Oregon
• Patient population includes PICU and NICU, with additional coverage in the emergency department and pediatric and adult acute/intermediate care wards
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Epic EMR used; experience required
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital may be required; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
• No on-call required
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Oregon (OR) state license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of PICU or NICU experience required; candidates with experience from a non-large facility or experience not within the last year may be subject to additional manager review
• Epic EMR experience required
• COVID vaccination proof required; no exemptions
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required; charge nurse references are not acceptable
• Full date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Work history covering the last 7 years required, including city, state, dates of employment, and PTO for each position

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include airway management, therapeutic gases, ventilator management, newborn and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood sampling, bedside spirometry, and point-of-care testing
• Care is delivered with consideration for age-specific patient needs within a family-centered care model
• Expected to train new respiratory therapists, students, and other healthcare team members
• Teaching hospital with Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Preferred skills include experience with ECMO, bronchoscopy, high-frequency jet ventilators, inhaled Flolan, micro-premie care, and pre/post cardiac surgery patients
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates who are former employees or previous travelers at this facility must have a reference completed by the OHSU supervising manager
• Candidates must have been away from the facility for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be declared upfront and may not exceed 2 weeks for the contract duration
• A Relias exam score of 85% or higher is required
• Comprehensive lifetime background review is conducted; no background or license hits accepted
• Copies of BLS and ACLS certifications required; AHA traditional format only — RQI not accepted
