Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - ED Nurse Educator for a 13-week travel assignment in a Level III trauma center Emergency Department, requiring an MSN with a nursing education focus and 2+ years of ED experience.
Details
- Emergency Department setting in a 198-bed, Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah
- Role functions as a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner specializing in emergency services education
- Adult and pediatric patient population
- 1:4 patient ratio in a 44-bed ED
- Equipment includes Mindray cardiac monitors, blood warmers, Level 1 rapid infuser, Zoll monitor/defibrillator, and infusion pumps
- EMR: Cerner
- Primarily day shift with potential overlap coverage during shift changes based on departmental needs
- Weekend hours dependent on departmental needs
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- MSN with a nursing education focus required
- CEN certification preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of Emergency Department experience required; trauma center experience preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of nurse educator experience preferred
- Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating educational content and learning activities preferred
- ED nursing and nursing professional development experience required

- Responsibilities center on nursing professional development, including designing and delivering educational programs for ED staff

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
