Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift contract requiring NIH Stroke Certification and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Neuro medical/surgical telemetry unit (5C) within a hospital setting
- 30-bed unit with approximately 60 total staff members
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
- 4 weekend shifts required per schedule
- No call requirements
- Uses Meditech EMR
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital signs monitors, COWs, Hoyer lifts, PCA pumps, CareView Virtual Sitter, Telepsych, and Teleneuro
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry required
- Experience with stroke care (NIH scale), EEGs, gastric decompression, and wound care
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
- One professional reference required
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a neuro medical/surgical telemetry unit including stroke, EEG, gastric decompression, and wound care patients
- Team includes CNC, RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and unit coordinators on each shift
- Team-oriented and self-motivated candidates preferred
- Navy scrub color required; hoop nose piercings not permitted
- Multiple ICARE award-winning unit with recognition based on patient feedback
- Unit policy packet provided on start date
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
