Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Danville, VA, requiring 5+ years of ED experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 31-bed Emergency Department, including 2 triage rooms and 7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients
- 250-bed academic community hospital serving all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric
- Patient ratio is 1:4, with exceptions possible during high-volume periods, discharge holds, or when a patient requires immediate care
- Primary EHR is MedHost (ED); Meditech is used for admit holds (EMAR only) and behavioral health patients with extended stays
- Day shift: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Rotating weekends required
- Float to other units as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Handle with Care certification required (available on-site)
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Candidates with both ICU and ED experience may also be considered
- Social Security number required for consideration
- Date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population across all age groups, including behavioral health patients
- The facility is the region's only designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, accredited by the ACC and American College of Surgeons
- Candidate must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- Cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
- Random drug screening consent and completion of a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form are required
- Travelers may wear any scrub color of their choice
- First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but 5+ years of ED experience is required
