Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position at an acute care hospital in Somerset, KY, requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiac ICU experience and active AHA certifications.
Details
- Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) unit in a 295-bed acute care facility serving an 11-county region in south central Kentucky
- 12-bed CVICU unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses and treatments include STEMI, N-STEMI, PE, cardiogenic shock, and post-cath care
- Patient ratios range from 2:1 up to 4:1 depending on acuity, including progressive and step-down patients on the unit
- Equipment includes ventilators, Swan-Ganz catheters, balloon pumps, arterial lines (A-lines), and CRRT
- EMR: Meditech
- 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 hours per week with no additional on-call requirements
- Rotating every other weekend requirement (12-hour shifts)
- Floating to other areas may be required based on census
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Kentucky or a compact state currently in hand
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be obtained prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac ICU experience required
- ADN required (minimum education level)
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
- Experience with drips, ventilators, and assisting with bedside procedures required
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Candidates must reside 60 or more miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to adult and geriatric cardiovascular patients, including management of drips, vents, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Orientation is held weekly on Mondays
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Closed-toe shoes required; crocs with open areas are not permitted
- Jeans, sports clothing, and spandex are not acceptable attire
- Large hoop earrings, barbells, and bull rings are not permitted; tattoos are acceptable as long as they are not offensive
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates who are employed full time elsewhere are not eligible
