Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position requiring a minimum of 1 year of OR experience and an active GA or Compact RN license, with on-call responsibilities including weekend shifts.
Details
- General OR setting handling a variety of cases including orthopedic, spine, general surgery, eyes, plastics, thoracic, and urology
- Small OR unit requiring scheduling flexibility to meet unit needs
- Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00–17:00)
- On-call requirements include one weekday and a minimum of two 24-hour weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Floating may be required within the facility and to a sister campus, within scope of practice
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of OR nursing experience required
- Proficiency in a broad range of OR skills including general surgery, orthopedic/spine procedures, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, and wound management
- Experience with OR equipment such as cell saver preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- RTO must be finalized prior to consideration; RTO cannot be requested post-offer or once onsite
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule modifications are permitted after placement
- Former permanent, per diem, or other staff employees of the health system must have been away from all system facilities for at least 1 full year before being eligible as a traveler
- All compliance documents must be submitted by the Tuesday prior to the start date; failure to meet this deadline may result in a two-week start date delay
- Specialty-specific modules are completed during orientation
