Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg position on the 8th floor of a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of experience and dysrhythmia competency.
Details
- Work is performed on the 8 Rose floor (8th floor) of a tertiary care regional referral hospital and Level I Trauma Center
- Unit is a 22-bed Neuro Med/Surg floor
- Adult patient population with diagnoses including CVA, TIA, seizure, inability to ambulate, common urinary and respiratory conditions, and rarely cardiac
- Patient ratios are 5:1 to 6:1
- Equipment includes Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
- EMR is Epic
- Day shift: 6:45 AM – 6:45 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Schedule requires 2 of 4 weekends per schedule (4 of 8 weekend shift days); straight weekend schedules available if preferred
- Floating required on an as-needed basis, though rare
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license for Pennsylvania (PA state license or compact license) required
- AHA-issued BLS required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Swallow Screen certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Neuro Med/Surg experience strongly preferred
- Competency in dysrhythmia recognition required; a dysrhythmia and medication math dosage test will be administered on the first day of orientation
- Epic EMR experience beneficial
- Social Security number required for consideration
- Date of birth required for consideration
- Candidates must reside 60 or more miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
- Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere
- Pennsylvania state clearances required prior to start, including: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Dept. of Human Services Fingerprinting (Service Code: 1KG756), FBI Dept. of Aging Fingerprinting (Service Code: 1KG8RJ, facility code: 5129), and PATCH PA State Police Clearance (employment clearance required; volunteer clearances not accepted)
- Drug screen completed within the last 90 days is acceptable
- MMR vaccination required; declinations are not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide neuro med/surg nursing care to adult patients on an active stroke and neurological unit
- A study guide and welcome packet will be provided via email prior to the dysrhythmia and dosage test on orientation day one
- Orientation is held weekly on Mondays
- Holiday coverage is required; specific holidays will be determined during the phone screening
- Scrub color: any; hoodies, t-shirts, shirts with wording or images, and facial piercings are not permitted
- Candidates may start with some onboarding items still pending, but all PA state clearances must be fully submitted before the candidate can be cleared to begin
