Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro travel assignment at an academic medical center in St. Louis, MO, requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Work in a 5N Neuro/Stroke/Med-Surg unit at a 356-bed non-profit academic medical center and tertiary care facility affiliated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine
- Patient population includes stroke, neurology, neurosurgery, trauma overflow, and MS overflow
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift, 7p–7:30a, with both 3x12 and 4x12 schedule options available
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to MS and all hospital care areas for MS patients, including ICU and ED for MS holds
- Epic EMR experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required; pending license considered
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Core clinical skills include neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, feeding tube management, heparin administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, PICC line management, and IV therapy
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 70 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- Position is based at an academic, research-focused tertiary care medical center serving the east Missouri region
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Block schedule requests are accommodated at the manager's discretion
- All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application; additional requests after confirmation are at the manager's discretion
- Travelers may not work past 1 year in a traveler capacity at this facility; a 6-month break is required before returning as a traveler
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and take approximately 5–6 hours for RNs
- Fit testing is required prior to start — candidates must be clean-shaven for mask seal; no CAPRs, PAPRs, or medical/religious exemptions are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
