Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring a CA RN license, prior travel experience, and the ability to float across multiple inpatient units.
Details
- Hospital-based ICU setting with float responsibilities to the SDICU, Telemetry, and Med/Surg units
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Epic EMR required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 4 years of ICU nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Core ICU skills required include: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation of ABGs, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, CVA/acute stroke management, cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, CVVHD/CRRT, and IV insulin protocols
- Preferred advanced skills include: ECMO and nurse-driven ECMO protocols, Impella, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, TAVR, post cardiac surgery care (directly from OR), epicardial pacing wire management, ICP monitoring, EVD management, post craniotomy and neurosurgery care, and lumbar drain management
- 2 supervisory references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler; former manager's name must be provided on the application
- Local candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are accepted
- RTO is capped at 7 days per contract; only 1 holiday per contract may be requested off
- Holidays with coverage expectations include: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day — each holiday period runs from 19:00 the evening before through 07:00 the morning after
- A 7-year work history verification is required for all candidates
- All certifications must be issued by AHA or ARC
